‘That 70s Show’ star Danny Masterson found guilty of rape

A Los Angeles judge declared on Wednesday that actor Danny Masterson, well known for That 70s Show, had been found guilty of rape. In the case involving the sex abuse of women in Masterson’s Hollywood Hills home, he was found guilty on two counts.

The most well-known performance of Masterson is his portrayal of Steven Hyde on That 70s Show, which ran from 1998 to 2006.

Masterson might receive a 30-year jail term

According to reports, the Los Angeles Court panel was handing down its ruling in the 2003 rape case. He was found guilty on two counts by the jury, but the penalty has not yet been made public. On August 4, at the next hearing, Masterson may be sentenced to 30 years in jail.
After the verdict, he was taken to prison.

Awaiting verdict on the third count

The jury found Masterson guilty of the first two charges of rape but deadlocked on the third. However, a 12-member jury that deliberated for seven days reached a judgment.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney, George Gascón, issued a statement in which he said, “We want to express our gratitude to the three women who came forward and bravely shared their experiences.”

What arguments were made in Masterson’s favor?

Philip Cohen, a defense lawyer, defended Masterson. The actor entered a plea of not guilty to the allegations, and then his lawyer begged with the jury to acquit him. According to media sources, Cohen questioned the veracity of the purported victims, claiming that they had changed their accounts over time. According to reports, Masterson connected with the victims via the Church of Scientology.

Information on the actor’s career

Early in the 1990s, Masterson started his acting career. His big break in his career, though, came with That 70s Show. In the well-liked comedy television series, he was portrayed as a disobedient teen.
The Ranch, which ran from 2016 to 2018, and Men at Work, which ran from 2012 to 2014, both featured the 47-year-old actor as Jameson “Rooster” Bennett.
